Now a Member of NCCI

Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Company is a fully affiliated member of the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), effective January 1, 2023. As a result, Chesapeake Employers has adopted NCCI’s:

  • Rating methodology
  • Experience modification
  • Scheduled rating plan
  • Loss costs

What this means...

  • Chesapeake Employers will be fully adopting the NCCI schedule rating plan.
  • Schedule credits/debits +/-25% can be applied to eligible policies with $10,000 in annual premium.
  • Chesapeake Employers Merit Rating plan continues with a new threshold for 2023.
  • Merit Rating can now be applied to accounts with premium less than $13,000 with 24 months experience or less than $6,500 for annual average premium.
  • If an NCCI experience mod exists, it will take precedence over the merit rating factor for the account.
  • This premium credit plan is a program offered by NCCI. Chesapeake Employers at issuance of the policy will provide the program form required to be completed by the insured.
  • Potential insured accounts identified at policy issuance based on these qualifying construction class codes.

  • The insured has 180 days from the effective date to submit the Construction Classification Premium Reduction Program form to NCCI.
  • If a credit is applicable, it will be communicated to Chesapeake Employers by NCCI and applied back to effective date.
  • Policyholders with a documented alcohol and drug-free workplace program can receive up to a 4% premium credit if the account meets the eligibility criteria set by Chesapeake Employers. Contact your agent or Chesapeake Employers’ underwriter for eligibility criteria.
  • Chesapeake Employers will utilize the Audit Noncompliance Charge (ANC) endorsement for each policy at inception.
  • The endorsement enables Chesapeake Employers to apply an ANC to policyholders who do not allow us to examine their records to perform a final audit on their workers’ compensation policy following policy expiration.
  • In addition, failure to cooperate with the audit after the second noncompliance charge may result in a cancellation of workers' compensation coverage.
